what's the best rock solo? i think it's between stairway & robin's til solo. if you put a gun to my head..i would choose robin's love solo. robin puts it all together. makes a gut wretching solo. a shakespeare tragedy. high art. creative theater. soapy stuff. would've been magical seein' robin spotlighted in an epic video for TIL during this solo like Slash was before him for his grandiose solo in the estranged movie. unfortunately, that'll never be. though, you can feel the power robin exudes on this solo. you can visualize robin playin' it in a new gnr epic video. as you can see, many on youtube have been taking their stab @ robin's solo. that's appreciation for robin's greatness as a guitar player on solos in big spots. this solo trumps the classic gnr solo on sweet child. robin eclipses slash with his solo on TIL. robin puts page's stairway solo out to pasture. stairway is a legendary solo. robin's better. takes rock solos to another level. that's why i say robin's TIL solo is the greatest rock solo of all time . . . what do you say?

if robin is out of gnr i do not want him on the cd. absolutely not. i want him replaced and his guitar parts erased to be done over by someone else

TIL solo is nowhere near the best. I like the solo to Night Train way better. There are sooo many better solos....

I'd rate Mean Street, Eruption and I'm The One from Van Halen, Estranged and November Rain as my top 5 solos.

i have to disagree, bill. i just listened to chinese democracy LP again on the record player. the highlight hearin' the album on an old fashioned LP player is: TIL. that song was meant for a record player. on a LP. played in this way. why? robin's solo. robin's solo on the LP player is magic theater. it stands out as the best moment of the album. this is what robin accomplishes. robin's TIL solo's knockin' on slash's estranged door. like i said, you can visualize robin doing the solo in a potential epic TIL video. the same way you see slash doing the solo @ the church in the november rain video. that's what robin brings to the table. he's a star. he tears it up live. i can see robin do the same visually for the TIL solo that he made his own. this solo is on another level. in a different solar system. it defies time and space. robin dances with the gods. that's how big his solo is. why, it's the greatest rock solo of all time . . . robin rocks

I think Slash's November Rain solo and Godfather Theme were better.

Yeah, I was being sarcastic.

But seriously, some of my favourite solos are Sweet Child, November Rain and Street Child from Slash, Comfortably Numb (Pink Floyd), Layla (Derek and the Dominos), Texas Flood (Stevie Ray Vaughan), parisienne walkways (Gary Moore), Johnny B. Goode (Chuck Berry) ans The Prince version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

that's not me. i'm not buffalo bill. but i don't repeat myself when i say robin's TIL solo is special. there's something about it. it's a shakespeare tragedy. it's high elevation. a snow storm ready to burst over a mountain. it's the solo rock's been waiting the last 18 years for. it's the big one. emotion explodes over when finck jump kicks it. it's epic. one for the ages. gives a glimpse into what the future of the rock solo could be. i don't get that from stairway or layla. i get it from TIL. from robin
