Exclusive: Guns N’ Roses Premiering New Song “If the World” in “Body of Lies,” Release Date Reserved

There’s yet another sign that this might finally be the year for Guns N’ Roses long-in-the-works Chinese Democracy. Rolling Stone can confirm that the album track “If The World” — a version of which leaked earlier this year — will appear in the upcoming Leonard Dicaprio/Russell Crowe movie Body of Lies, in theaters October 10th. The track features the guitar work of GNR guitarist Robin Finck, as well as Buckethead, who left the band in 2004. The song plays during the closing credits of the movie, but it won’t appear on the soundtrack album. It will be the second official release of a Chinese Democracy track, as “Shackler’s Revenge” is included in the new Rock Band 2 game. A source has told Rolling Stone that Guns N’ Roses has reserved a November 25th date for the possible release of the album, which will be a Best Buy exclusive.

It's cool that they're releasing music, but they've picked one of their worst new songs.

I don't think it's that bad. After listening to it a few times, I grew to like it. Something about it makes me wanna move my shoulders the way Axl does to a slower tempo song.

"Instant classic" it ain't. It's one of those songs that grows on you with each listen. You come to appreciate it over time, but in my opinion it'll never really hit it big with a mainstream audience.

That could change though. We haven't heard the final version.

I've listened to it a few times, but it doesn't grow at all.

It's more an R&B song than a rock song, and I hate most R&B songs.
Plus the lyrics sound like they've been written by a 12 year old trying to rhyme.

ROFL i think that song is about Beta, Axl finally realized shes the only one the has ever loved him, and shes so close to him Q_Q

Quote
I never thought all the love I was looking for
could ever be so close to me
You're the only one I have ever loved that has ever loved me
and now you've got the best of me

If the world would end today
then all the dreams we had would all just drift away
Know there's nothing more to say

If the world would end today
then all the dreams we had would all just drift away
Know there's nothing more to say
if the world would end and our love slipped away

No one could be much closer to him than the housekeeper in the next room.

Who cares, we'll still get to hear the finished version. It's not like you were going to pay for it anyways.

who cares? i care. we already heard the finished version that'll be on the cd. we heard this @ bestbuy convention in dallas. gould played that finished cd version @ the convention for over 900 bestbuy employees. you're right, i'm not wasting 12 bucks on body of shit. i won't because i've already heard the finished version. but that's beside the point. the point is this is another way for axl to steal the fans money like he's been stealing the money from the fools who bought rb2 just for shackler. 60 bucks down the toilet. 60 bucks right into axl's pockets. over and over again. can you hear it? can you hear the sound? flush   Barf this is the way for axl not to release the album. axl will say "game grab / movie grab" he'll think that's enough for the guns n' roses fans. but that's not enough for the fans. what's enough for the fans is chinese democracy album in their hands in 2008. wake up,  Axl wake up before it's too late . . .
