Here's the press release:

Quote
Nine Inch Nails 2008 touring lineup has been completed. Returning member Robin Finck and new addition Rich Fownes will join Trent Reznor, Alessandro Cortini and Josh Freese for a world tour beginning July in North America.

Finck has served in numerous touring configurations of NIN, from tours supporting The Downward Spiral (1994-1997) to The Fragile (2000-2001). More recently, he played in Guns N Roses. Fownes has been performing with UNKLE, and has been a member of With Scissors and The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster.

The upcoming tour will feature the live debut of material from the recently released Ghosts I-IV alongside songs spanning the entire NIN catalogue.

And from Trent Reznor's blog:

Quote
04 April 2008: Welcome back!

this is shocking. maybe axl needs to make a statement on his website that says mr. robin finck is an ex gnr member turned once again nin. this doesn't look good for guns n roses  Undecided

It's not necessarily the end. Fortus and Dizzy are on tour, Frank is playing solo dates, and Bunblefoot is in the studio writing a solo album. But this pretty much kills any hopes of Chinese Democracy for a while. When they're worrying so much about promotion, there's no way they would put it out at a time when they couldn't tour behind it.  Sad

Hmmm, Finck left GNR (temporarily?), other members are working on different projects, and Slash and Duff lost their frontman. It's really hard not to dream out loud right now Cheesy.

Won't happen though Cry.

if robin is still a member of gnr, nothing should stop the cd from coming out this year. unless axl has new perfectionist issues no one knows about except him, new management, and the company itself

Well well, i always liked Robin on NIN than on GNR anyways, if he got tired of waiting i totally understand, just when i thought things were going to start moving again.

btw Queenie, we know it's you, switch your name back if you want "wonka" Tongue.

If Robin is touring with NIN, it means he won't tour with GNR this summer. When a band releases an album, it's usually followed by a tour, because that's the best promotion.

So don't expect anything to come from GNR this summer.

that's a disgrace. the guns n roses fans should expect something from gnr this 2008 summer and that's chinese democracy. that's what they should expect with the dr. pepper promotion and new gnr management. should be expected. robin's made a grave mistake. what is he thinking going back to nin? this isn't good. this reminds me of buckethead and brain. both of them is ex members. but robin can't be an ex member too like them or else it'll be the death of 2008 guns n roses. who will replace robin? who will replace his guitar parts in the studio? this will be a total nightmare and disaster if robin is ex gnr for good this time. that's why robin must explain himself on why he is doing this, doing this to the guns n roses fans who don't want it. i don't want it. i know the majority of gnr fans don't want it too. i know i don't. i hope robin gives an explanation about this with the gnr fans who in this moment is fearin' the worst for guns n roses future  Undecided

If you hope for anything with GnR you set yourself up for disappointment. Hope for the best and expect nothing.

what is he thinking going back to nin?

A lot of his fans have been following him since his Nine Inch Nails days, so they're all really excited. Check out the responses to the announcement in Trent Reznor's blog. I think it's a bad idea in the long run, though. He's not allowed to do any songwriting in NIN. GnR is the only place where his work is really showcased.

I'd like to hear a clarification from him on whether he's out or not too. It'd be really sad if this truly is the year for Chinese Democracy and he's not there to recieve the rewards of it.

after all these years ... i should expect nothing less but the cd. the nin fans excited but this sends the wrong message to the gnr fans. makes a bad impression. how gnr fans supposed to feel when they see their idol in another band, which is not their own? the fans will be in an uproar over the gnr lead guitarist playin' lead for someone else this summer in another band that's not gnr. i know i would. that's why i'm not seein' robin in nin because i will only see robin in gnr live. robin should take this into consideration and reconsider what he's doing. if cd comes out this year it would be a shame since robin would be in another band and not the band he's supposed to be in for this band's cd's release. would be a shame. axl should tell robin: "either ur in nin or gnr" "u choose" this is what axl should say. he should lay the hammer down on robin to make sure his loyalty is for gnr and only gnr. the media would have a field day with this rippin' axl, robin, and gnr apart if robin is out freeloading with some others when he should be being a part of history in gnr when cd comes out. another reason why robin should spare people the pain and say whether he is in gnr or out
